Gerald Roulette is a classically trained and internationally exhibited artist known for his contemporary realist and figurative painting. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Roulette pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts and studied under master artists in Europe before playing for two years in the NFL. After an injury ended his football career, he taught high school art in Texas for nearly two decades before moving to the Portland, Oregon, area to dedicate himself fully to painting and art education. His work, often described as "abstract realism," explores layers of meaning, frequently focusing on the human figure and using bold colors to convey energy and emotion. Roulette is also a cancer survivor, a journey he says has inspired his art and his perspective on "new beginnings".
