Alex Kuno is a Saint Paul, Minnesota-based artist and illustrator known for his imaginative, pop surrealist style that often merges grotesque medieval fairy tales with vintage scientific illustrations. Drawing inspiration from historical medical and botanical drawings and early Renaissance art, he creates a world of surreal, organic beings that are both unsettling and fascinating. A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a BFA in painting and art history, Kuno's work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications like Vice.com and Hi-Fructose.
His career grew significantly after he designed his first official concert poster for the band TOOL in 2022, which helped expand his collector base. He continues to work on commission for clients worldwide and describes his art as a form of personal mythology used to process and respond to political, cultural, and environmental issues. He is currently a full-time artist working from his studio in the Lowertown Arts District of Saint Paul.
